Diagnostics Criteria

In order to receive a diagnosis, individuals are required to meet the criteria outlined in the DSM-5. These criteria include the following:

  • Deficits in social-emotional, social communication, and social interaction skills.

  • Engaging in stereotyped and highly restricted behaviors, displaying inflexible adherence to routines, and exhibiting preoccupation with specific objects.

  • Hyporeactivity to sensory stimulation, which may result in atypical responses to sensory input.

  • These disturbances can significantly impact academic performance and daily functioning, potentially affecting an individual's school experience.

  • Intellectual disability is commonly associated with autism spectrum disorder.

  • Aggressive behaviors, both verbal and physical, such as hitting, biting, scratching, and throwing objects, are frequently observed in individuals with autism spectrum disorder.

Moreover, school readiness skills encompass vital areas such as independent behavior, concentration, language skills, writing skills, and academic proficiency.
